Mohammed Ali Ndume, the majority leader of the Senate, on Sunday, September 6, praised President Muhammadu Buhari over his performance within the first 100 days in office.
According to Daily Post, Ndume expressed confidence that Buhari had managed to restore hope to Nigeria – the country which used to be actively going downwards.

The claim comes amid estimations of Buhari’s first three-month term as the president. Opinions differ on the matter. While some believe that a series of achievements has been reached, others lament that the new leader has already disappointed Nigerians.

“The change that Nigerians have witnessed with the coming on board of President Muhammadu Buhari has really brought hope because Nigerians have gotten to the point of hopelessness; everyone with me here will agree that Nigerians were virtually at the edge of hopelessness.
“The nation was at a brink of failure as predicted that Nigeria would have been a failed state by 2015. That could have happened if President Buhari did not become the president.”

The politician further noted that the Nigerian people now had the president they trusted. He commended Buhari for first having addressed the issue of security in the country.

“The first thing this government did was to bring back the confidence of the Nigerian masses to their leadership. Everybody is having that confidence that Nigeria has a leader they can trust, leader that they expect the desired change from.

“Honestly, the first thing the president addressed is the issue of security and I think that is the most important. First, he ordered the military command to relocate to Maiduguri. Second, he changes the service chiefs and thirdly, he charged them with the responsibility of making sure that this country is secured particularly the Northeast, we are all part of the progress made so far.

“The Nigerian security has made progress in that regard and that was because of Mr. President’s commitment.

“We have seen the president running around the neighbouring countries for them to come and put heads together to address the challenging situation. And we have seen the cooperation we have received from the governments of neighbouring countries and the result coming out from it. We have also seen the president running around and talking to whoever wants to listen in the international communities in terms of looking for support.”

He therefore urged people to be patient and allow Buhari to gradually return greatness to Nigeria.
