MTN Boss shun House Of Reps

The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria has for the second time shunned the House of Representatives Committee on Communications who invited him to appear before the committee as regards the fine imposed on the company by the Nigerian Communications Commission.
A visibly angry source from the Nigeria Communications Commission who spoke with us said the MTN Boss should not be allowed to ridicule the Nigerian Parliament. " If it were in other countries will that be tolerated?" he asked.

It should be noted that the Nigeria Communications Communication NCC had imposed a fine of 1.0 trillion naira as a result of MTN not registering lines under their network.
MTN had said they reached an amicable settlement of the issue which necessitated them paying 50 billion naira to the recovery account something which the House rejected.

The source said the House will not rest until the issue is amicably resolved in favour of the country's interest.

Meanwhile Nigerians have continued to criticise the way and manner MTN is acting as regards the payment of NCC is acting as regards the payment of the fine. Comrade Abba Masta an activist said the actions of the telecommunications firm is deplorable and must be condemned by patriotic Nigerians. "What they are doing is not good for the image of the country. They must realise that they are not above the law. I urge the House of Reps to do all it can to ensure the MTN chief Executive appears before it and explain why they are dilly dallying in paying the fine" he stated.
