The member representing Okitipupa/Irele federal constituency in the
House of Representatives Hon. Michael Adeniyi Omogbehin has congratulated the
Speaker of the House over his emergence. Hon. Omogbehin said the emergence was
good for our democracy considering the fact that it is the most competitive
process that has brought forth a leader of the House since the inception of our
current democracy.
Hon. Mike Adeniyi Omogbehin who spoke with Parliamentary Info
said as a new member of the House of Representatives, he has nothing much to
give as advice to the Speaker other than to advise him to quickly settle down
to the business of running the green chamber effectively for the betterment of
the country. He said he believes that Rt. Hon. Dogara as an experienced member
of the House will not disappoint the Nigerian people.
He commended the Speaker for presenting his legislative agenda
on the floor of the House stressing that it will be a basis for which the House
will be directed. “Today, the Speaker of the House presented his legislative
agenda. It is like a road map and I want to say that he is standing on a good
pedestal” Hon. Omogbehin stated.
On his own legislative agenda, the member representing
Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency said his activities in the House will be hinged on
effective representation. He said his constituents elected him to offer quality
and effective representation in the House of Reps and he will not disappoint
them. He said he will ensure that laws that will be made in the House do not
run repugnant to the cultures and traditions of the people of Nigeria. He said
as a trained Project Manager, he will do much to ensure that the issue of white
elephant projects is eliminated. Hon. Omogbehin decried the failure of many
projects in the country. “As a member of the Nigerian parliament, I am going to
look at ways we will ensure that legislative inputs will be made to eradicate
the issue of white elephant projects in the country because it definitely does
not do the country’s quest for development any good” he said.
