BUDGET 2016: Group Wants Anti Corruption Agencies to Probe Hon. Jibrin

The Youth Say Yes Initiative For Change has called on anti Corruption Agencies to investigate the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations Hon. Abdulmiminu Jibrin for corrupt practice.

The group in a press statement signed by its National Director of Mobilisation Comrade Etuk Benjamin said the actions of the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee is disgraceful and appalling.

"We condemn the disgraceful corrupt attitude of Hon. Abdulmiminu Jibrin in appropriating almost five billion naira to his constituency while other constituencies did not get even close to a hundred million. This is evil and we must rise against it. It is a slap on the face of other members. We urge Nigerians to rise against this ploy to take advantage of ones position to his own advantage as evident in the conduct of the member" The statement said.

Consequently, the group urged the Chairman of the Appropriations  Committee to resign his position as chairman of the Appropriations Committee honourably stressing that if he refuses, it will have no other option than to carry out a mass protest against the member and members of his committee at the National Assembly.

On the controversial Calabar - Lagos railway project, the group said it is disheartening that the leadership of the National Assembly is in a mission to sabotage the efforts of the present administration. " Mr. President has traveled to China to sign a loan agreement with the Chinese government while the leadership of the National Assembly is busy removing an integral part of the loan agreement from the budget. Does this not show how wicked these people can be? If they want to play politics they can but they must recognise the fact that Nigerians are suffering." The statement added.
