The Federal Court of Appeal in Abuja has formally assumed jurisdiction in an appeal case brought before it by the Senate President, Dr Olubukola Abubakar Saraki, to challenge his trial by the Federal Government on alleged false assets declaration at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
The presiding judge at the appellate court, Justice Moore Adumein, in a decision yesterday, granted accelerated hearing to the suit of which Saeaki is asking the court to stop his continued trial at the CCT pending the determination of his case.

Justice Adumein took the decision after listening to the fierce argument of counsel to Saraki, Mahmoud Abubakar Magaji (SAN), on the need for the matter to be expeditiously determined because of the utmost urgency involved.
Apart from granting accelerated hearing to the appellant, he also fixed October 16 for definite hearing of the case.
