As Nigerians, in less than two hours from now, await Senate
President Bukola Saraki’s official announcement of President Buhari’s second
list of ministerial nominees, as well as the screening of the first list of 21
nominees, the Senate has insisted that it has jettisoned the tradition of ‘bow
and go’ for nominees.
The Senate was responding via his its Twitter handle
@NGRSenate, to a question asked by citizen @AO250880 if the former Rivers State
Governor, Rotimi Amaechi is expected to take a ‘bow and go’ since he (Amaechi)
was a former Chairman, Conference of Speakers, ex-Speaker of Rivers State House
of Assembly, ex-Governor of Rivers State and also a former Chairman of the
Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).
In its reply the Senate said: “Plenary will start with
regular business of the day at 10am then proceed to announcements, before the
screening of ministerial nominees. The 8th Senate has jettisoned the tradition
of bow and go.”
