As Ebonyi Central Celebrates Senator Ogba Victory...

On Tuesday 13th October 2015 the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly Tribunal sitting in Abakiliki Ebonyi State upheld the election of Sen. Obinna Ogba as duly elected Senator of Ebonyi Central Senatorial District. That the Tribunal affirmed the election of Sen. Ogba is not much of news because we the people of the zone know and believe that the election was won fair and square but the judgment as delivered by the presiding Judge Justice John Agya has gone a long way to show that Sen. Ogba is a man of the people who have the support of the majority of the people in Ebonyi Central. In the words of the presiding Judge he maintained that the petition filed by Nnanna Elechi of the Labour Party “lacked merit”. This position must be taken by the petitioner as the reality on ground which should encourage him to stop the suits against Sen. Obinna Ogba.
Sen.Ogba is a grassroots man and this was shown in the support he got during the electioneering campaigns and the election proper and such support is something that cannot be wished away or disputed as his opponent might want to do. It is also a known fact that the Peoples Democratic Party PDP which nominated him as its flag bearer remains the most acceptable party in the state and the south eastern region. It is little wonder that the elections in the state from the executive to the legislative positions were won mostly by aspirants presented by the PDP.
We understand the usefulness of Tribunals in the electioneering process and the frustration of the petitioner but this process of petitioning should not be abused by aspirants who in their own personal convictions know very well that they did not win or make impact in the elections. The petitioner Mr. Nnanna Elechi knows that he did not win the election why he chose to contest the outcome of the elections cannot be imagined. Is it born out of mischief or determination to distract the Senator from fulfilling his mandate to his people? He knows best.
My advice for the petitioner is that he does the honourable thing by congratulating Sen. Ogba and give him all the support he needs to fulfill his mandate. There is always another day and he should rather start bidding his time for the future.
To the amiable Senator Obinna Ogba, we the people in his constituency wish him a fruitful period in the National Assembly we strongly believe he has all it takes to make a positive impact in the National Assembly. Ebonyi State in general and Ebonyi central in particular has a lot of developmental needs which we believe he will bring to the national political burner. We also want to encourage him to do all he can towards ensuring that some basic issues ravaging our area like infrastructural development, unemployment, women empowerment and others will be looked into during his stay in the National Assembly. It is very imperative that I quote his promise to the people which has buttressed the love of the people for him “Being elected is a very big responsibility that has been given to me by the good people of Ebonyi Central zone and I am going to live up to the expectation by making sure that I join my Colleagues to make good laws that will favour not just my Senatorial District, but the Nation as a whole. In Ebonyi State we are lagging behind and this is the time we have to make sure that those amenities that our people lack we do our best to get them into the budget and not just getting them into the budget but making sure they are implemented”.
As we look forward to a better Ebonyi State under the competent Governor Eng. Dave Umahi, we must stress also that we have complete faith and trust that Ebonyi has the best minds in the National Assembly today. The state could not have had it better. The likes of former governor Sam Egwu whose administration brought development to the State cannot be overlooked and no matter the attempt to distract him and his colleagues through frivolous petitions such attempts will not see the light of the day.

May God Bless Ebonyi state.
