The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr
Mudashiru Obasa on Thursday urged Nigerians to continue to promote peaceful
co-existence and radiate love among themselves, in line with the lessons of the
Ramadan.
Obasa made this plea in his Sallah message signed by Mr
Musbau Rasak, his Chief Press Secretary.
According to him, Nigerians should continue to display the
spirit of love and to share joy and peace, which were the major virtues they
demonstrated during the Ramadan period.
“We should and must continue to display the virtues preached
during the fasting period and there also is need for us to continue to share
love and promote peace in the country.
“Yes, Ramadan has come and gone but our good deeds must not
be neglected or forgotten.”
On security challenges facing the country, the Speaker said:
“now is the time for Nigerians to come together, put all hands on deck and
ensure that the devilish activities of the terrorist group, Boko Haram are
checked.
“Government at all levels is trying its best to ensure that
the activities of this devilish group are curtailed.
“On our part, what is required of us is to come together,
share love among ourselves and promote lasting peace, irrespective of our
religious affiliation; our main goal should be to put a stop to insurgency.”
Obasa urged Nigerians to remain vigilant at all times, while
keeping close watch on the activities of their children.
According to him, the terrorist group has devised a new
strategy of using innocent children to plant bombs and explosives in their
target areas.
“The onus lies on us to remain vigilant, monitor our children
and educate them not to take any parcel or box from any stranger, even if they
are offered money,” he said.
He congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the
Ramadan fasting and prayed God to allow the nation reap the full reward of the
sacrifice made during the period. (NAN)
