The relationship between the
country’s number one man and number 3 man has remained en strangled following
the emergence of Mr Saraki as senate president and zoning of principal officers
in the senate against the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
According to the report, both the
president and Saraki have not exchange phone calls or private meetings despite
Saraki’s reported several attempts to have a one-on-one meeting with President
Buhari with the president reportedly
vowed to punish Saraki for his “act of betrayal” , the newspaper said.
Sources qouted in the report said
“the relationship has grown colder and the coming weeks promise to be very
tense between the two men”.
It would be recalled that Saraki
who deflected from the peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was the co-coordinator
for the fund-raising efforts for Buhari’s 2015 presidential election and was recently
spotted in a widely publicised photograph, sitting next to Buhari at the
praying ground in Abuja.
Meanwhile, after shifting the
resumption date from July 21, the national assembly is expected to resume on
July 28 as many Nigerians believe the crisis would have been settled.
It would be recalled that the
peace committee chaired by Aminu Tambuwal, the governor of Sokoto, failed to
resolve the leadership tussle in the caucus of the All Progressives Congress
(APC) at the House of Representatives.
