Abuja - The Speaker of the House
of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has expressed shock over the death of Oni of
Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade.
Dogara, in a condolence message
his spokesperson, Turaki Hassan, released, described the death of the monarch
as monumental loss to Nigeria.
“I join our countrymen and women
to mourn the demise of the Oni who was a father to all. Nigeria has lost one of
its most respected and revered traditional rulers,” Dogara said.

He added that the late monarch
had lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation and pray to God to give his
family and the Ife Kingdom strength.
“The late monarch has lived a
fulfilled life worthy of emulation and I pray God to give his family and the
Ife Kingdom, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” Dogara added.
The Speaker also commiserated
with the government and people of Osun State over the death of the revered
monarch.
Adetokunbo Sijuwade, the son of
the late the monarch, officially announced the death on Wednesday.
His father died in a London
hospital at the age of 85.
